Every guide on our site is built from a combination of on-the-ground experience, National Park Service data, visitor reviews, and local knowledge. We visit the parks ourselves, talk to rangers, and research seasonal conditions so you don't have to piece together information from a dozen different sources.

He created Best National Park after years of planning trips for friends and family and realizing no single source offered honest, comprehensive rankings. Our research team includes former National Park Service rangers, wilderness guides, and long-distance hikers who contribute specialized knowledge for individual park guides. Each park page is reviewed by at least two team members before publication. We cross-reference trail distances, permit requirements, and seasonal conditions against official NPS sources.

How We Create Our Guides

  1. 1Research: We start with on-the-ground visits, NPS.gov data, and published trail guides. For parks we haven't personally visited, we interview rangers and consult multiple primary sources.
  2. 2Write: Every guide is written from scratch — no AI-generated summaries or scraped content. We focus on practical, actionable information: specific trails with distances, real fees, actual logistics.
  3. 3Fact-check: Trail distances, permit requirements, entrance fees, and road closures are verified against NPS.gov at publication time and reviewed quarterly.
  4. 4Update: We update guides when conditions change — new reservation systems, fee changes, road closures, or new trail openings. Reader corrections are reviewed and applied within 48 hours.
